Leverage At Work
I've attended many seminars, listened to countless audio recordings, and
read hundreds of books. One recurring theme that runs through much of
this material is that the authors, presenters and experts emphasise how
easy it is to do things.
"Build a Web site in an hour - It's a cinch!"
"Set up a Google AdWords campaign and get instant traffic to your site -
No problem!"
"Out-source your projects to Rent-a-Coder so that a qualified engineer
in Bangalore can do them for you at one-tenth of the price - No worries,
mate!"
"Create an on-line survey to find out what your customers want - Piece
of cake!"
The fact is, these experts are right! Never has there been a better time
to run a successful business, using many of the tools that have
previously only been available to folks at the big end of town.
But there's a catch ... These things are easy, but only if you know what
you are doing. In other words, they are easy the second time around. But
if you haven't ever done any of these things before, they are probably
as far away from reality as the dark side of the Moon.
That's where the Leverage At Work package comes in ...
The Leverage At Work package provides Web site implementation and
execution support for a business mentoring programme. It dovetails
perfectly with our own Leverage Mentoring package, the Thought Leaders
"Private Mentoring" package or the Shirlaws business coaching system.
Who is it for?
The Leverage At Work package is ideal for "information experts" - people
who sell information products and services. This includes speakers,
facilitators, trainers, seminar presenters, coaches, authors and
consultants.
It could also suit you perfectly if you get lots of ideas from books,
courses and other means; but don't know how to put these ideas into
practice.
It doesn't matter whether you have support staff or not. If you do, then
we will teach them how to do the various tasks; otherwise, we can do
them for you directly.
What's in it for you?
My objective is to help you to put your ideas into action.
Information experts have lots of great ideas, but often fail to put them
into action - or start putting them into action and never complete them!
Usually, it doesn't take a lot of work to finish projects, but it does
take some work. And before that work is done, you might be off and
running on a new project!
The Leverage At Work package will help you to get your projects done.
Here's some of what you can expect to achieve as an outcome:

- Empower your support staff with systems that help you in the

What's in the package?
Telephone Consulting
If you are doing telephone consulting with another business mentor, one
of our staff will schedule up to an hour per month as part of your
mentoring calls. The main job is to listen, though of course we will
contribute our expertise if required.
If you have face-to-face sessions rather than telephone sessions, you
can send us an audio recording of the session - again, up to an hour -
for us to review.
Leverage Support
Based on the actions of your mentoring session, we will allocate up
to 10 hours per month for doing work on your Web site and other leverage tasks, or training your staff to do it themselves.
Any unused time in a month can be moved to the next month, and will
expire after one month. You'll also get additional hours - if required -
at a special rate (75% of our standard consulting rate).
Managed Solutions
Some of the work - such as creating products - can take time; and they
might involve a number of people, including you, your staff and external
parties.
We'll treat this as a "Managed Solution", where we help you and your
staff with the project management of this work to see it to completion.
We usually charge a fee for this service, but it's included as part of
your Leverage At Work package, provided it falls within the Leverage
Support time allocated during the month.
Market Intelligence
In addition to the automatic site upgrades above, we'll also keep an eye
out for articles, e-books and other Web sites that might be of interest
to you; and we'll send them to you as we come across them.
Backups
Most Web hosts are reliable, but they aren't perfect. So, to assure
peace of mind, we back up your Web site each month, save the backups to
CD, and post the CDs to you.
Link Checking
Every month, we'll run a check to ensure that all the links on your site
are working correctly.
Web Host Management
Dealing with domain name companies and Web hosts isn't always a pleasant
business, so we'll take care of that for you. For example, if your Web
site isn't responding, that's usually a problem at the Web host, so
we'll contact them on your behalf and keep track of the problem until
it's resolved.
We will also keep track of renewal dates for your Web hosting and domain
registration, and send you reminders well in advance, so that you can
renew them and keep your Web site operational. This should be something
that your Web host does, but occasionally the reminders get lost!
Special Offers
If you are also using our Leverage Mentoring package at the same time,
the Telephone Consulting component will already be taking place. In this case, we will increase the Leverage Support component, so that you get up to 14 hours per month rather than 10.
We also work closely with the Thought Leaders Private Mentoring package,
run by Matt Church. If you're using Leverage At Work to support Matt's
Private Mentoring package, we'll add another two hours per month to your
Leverage Support.
Is this right for you?
The Leverage At Work package is an intensive programme. You're getting a
lot of support throughout the year, so it's only worthwhile for you if
you plan to take advantage of it.
That means that it's not for everybody.
To get maximum value from the package, I believe that you need these
things:
- An established business, with clarity around your ideas, market
and distribution channels.
- A Web site that adequately represents your current business
(whether or not it is currently making money for you!)
- A focus on growth for your business in the next 12 months. The
Leverage At Work package can work for you if you're just looking to
consolidate your business, but you'll get more value from it if you're
in a growth phase.
- A clear strategy for your business, and specific ideas for
executing that strategy. Leverage At Work is an implementation package
for your ideas, not a mentoring package to help you develop ideas. If
you're interested in a mentoring package, consider our Leverage Mentoring package.
- Ideally, at least one support person in your office (or a
"virtual assistant" who works from elsewhere), who we can train in the
implementation and project management. As I mentioned above, if you
don't have access to support staff, we can do the work for you; but it
makes more sense for us to train somebody who can then continue doing
this for you in the future.
- Sufficient cash flow to invest in the package and the ongoing
leverage opportunities that arise from the package.
