Thinking Ahead: Embracing Change In 2024

We know 2023 has been yet another year of massive change, and there’s more change ahead. Looking forward, 2024 presents an opportunity to think and act differently in the face of change, uncertainty, and disruption – so you have more clarity and confidence and make better decisions in your personal and professional life.

As we’re getting towards the end of the year, many people are winding down, reflecting on the year that’s been and also looking forward to the future. In my professional world, the biggest change for most of my clients and my network has been the rapid growth of artificial intelligence – AI. This growth has been happening for a while – I know because, more than 30 years ago, at university, my Computer Science thesis was about AI. But it’s only in the last year, with the launch of ChatGPT, that AI has become mainstream.

It’s easy to get caught up in all the hype and hysteria about AI potentially destroying jobs and maybe even humanity. But any time there’s a change, there are always possibilities and opportunities, too. There is always good and bad, and there are people who will take advantage of the opportunities.

In my book, “Disruption by Design”, I say disruption and innovation are exactly the same thing because they’re both about change. It’s just disruption when the change happens to you, and it’s innovation when you create the change yourself.

In the last few years, we’ve faced a lot of disruption. You might feel you’re just at the mercy of change, uncertainty, and disruption, but this is not true. I invite you to look at 2024 as the year when you can be proactive to create the change and the future you want.

As we come to the end of 2023, my gift to you is a video I created, “23 Ways AI Has Improved Our World In 2023”:

If you’re having a break towards the end of the year, I wish you all the best for spending quality time with family and friends, and I hope you get a good rest. And I wish you all the best for 2024 as well.
