As we step into 2024, AI will continue to play an important role in our lives. As a leader, use these three key questions to build your strategy for integrating AI into your role, your team, and your organisation in the year ahead.
Happy New Year! I hope you had a successful year in 2023 and are looking forward to 2024.
AI, of course, was one of the biggest topics last year. 2023 was the year AI truly became mainstream, and its impact on our lives will grow in 2024.
As a leader, you might be thinking about how to integrate AI into your role, your team, and your organisation. The answers will be different for everybody, but there are three key questions you should ask to set your strategy:
- So what?
- What now?
- What next?
First, “So what?” helps you ignore the hype and bright shiny object syndrome, and helps you focus on the benefits, opportunities, risks, and challenges of AI.
Then, “What now?” guides you in planning the actions you need to take NOW and in the short term (particularly in the next 12 months) to leverage AI in your team and organisation.
Finally, “What next?” lets you look beyond the immediate future. What does the long-term horizon look like for AI in role, business, and industry?
It’s easy to get caught up in the distant future of AI (that is, thinking too much about “What next?”). That might be important, but start with “So what?” and “What now?” to give you a clear strategy and practical plan.
I’m running a virtual masterclass soon about how leaders should be using AI in 2024. This free, public presentation will cover the four essential things leaders need to know, and it’s a great opportunity to get a head start on AI this year.
Please register, attend, and share this with others in your network, too.
